I’m working on re-skinning a Corvette for a billionaire, tell me what’d you design it like. I’ll give you exactly 0.00% of the money I’ll get.

A good deal for sure! I`m totes jelly of your situation.

a modern take on sidepipes.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:16 |

So this is actually something that has to be feasible? Because that dictates whether I can do something crazy vs. not as crazy.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:18 |

Get rid of all the black vents, they look like JC Whitney crap. Fix the back end it’s hideous, especiall the shit around the tail lights that looks like bad millenial eye makeup. The chrome retainer is dumb. Smooth out the creases everywhere.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:19 |

Mako Vette II all the Vettes!!
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:19 |

I know at least 1 person who really, really wants you to cover up those god damn fasteners.

More hips, lower tail. Not so tall an ass end.
Tyring to figure out what you’re saying with the mid line (the one through the filler)... subtle durface break? Because otherwise you’ll end up with weird, flat/wide wheelarches, but you know that.
Top of front fender vent seems too far back and a little high.
What’s going on with the sill? A double flare?
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:24 |
|
Yea actually feasible. No structure change, has to go around all of the hard points, keep the glass, etc.

Got brought up in the conference call but not be possible. Has to be smog legal in California, so might only do cat back exhaust.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:27 |

Haha, well played.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:29 |

Yea thats all on the to-do list.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:30 |

Flip up headlights.
Also flying buttresses, if going modern. Otherwise I’ve always liked the concave shelby daytona rear end and have never really seen anything like it elsewhere.
P.S. second side pipes
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:30 |

Corvettamino.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:32 |

I honestly just opened up Photoshop and started playing around, I don’t even know what I’m doing yet.
But things like the high ass might have to stay. Company wants to change just body panels to keep cost down and profit high. We’ll know more about the structure when we get a C7 in and take the body off.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:32 |

SidepEEps. Buttresses. Shrouded round headlights.Proper gill slots in the side.
And a luggage rack.

Dem arches.
Always +1 for inspiration images.

I don’t think billionaires have much use for a truck bed.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:38 |

For starters, I’d give it a body paint-colored A pillar.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:39 |

Its a great project honestly. A month ago I was doing hvac controls, so its not always this good.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:40 |

Already did a quick sketch based off that!

They need to use their imaginations.

I hate flip up headlights.
Yea I said it.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:41 |

Gill slots are not a bad idea. Luggage rack though is on point.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:42 |
|
I vote for going full on crazy. DTM Vette.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:43 |

Can you send me just the side profile, but lightened like above? I want to print it out and doodle in pencil. Maybe I can figure something interesting out.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:45 |

GO!
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:45 |

If you’re going with a functional splitter in the front, then you need to see it through with a smoothened underbody (via covers/tray) and a proper rear diffuser.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:46 |
|
We cant change the glass because $$ and IMO just painting that part does not look good.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:49 |

Someone asked if he wanted C7R inspired bodywork and his response was:
I dont goto the track, I want something I can daily drive to work.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:49 |

The problem with the stock C7 isn’t the skin....
...it’s the placement of the engine within.

...but he’s a billionaire...
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:52 |
|
But for sure. Add the grille slots back in the sides after the front wheels.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:53 |
|
Like this?
In all seriousness, though, I dunno. Maybe make it look like a Camaro? That would be hilarious, at least.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:54 |
|
Well there you go.
So here’s an alternate suggestion:
A modern-day Greenwood.
But with better-looking lights since the C7 has a bit more to work with than the C3 did.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:54 |
|
I do like your sketch though.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:55 |
|
Not like a full rebody, but I would give it hints of ‘63 Split Window.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:55 |
|
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:57 |
|
Yea definitely. But really thats just a 2 minute doodle. The conference call started just 3 hours ago.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:58 |
|
I know. But if he wants to pay us a lot of money to just change the body panels, we’d be stupid not to do it.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:58 |
|
This is good oppo.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 15:58 |

On it.

The lack of mantide in this thread is disappointing

How about an SA Aperta version of the F12 if Ferrari hasn't made it yet?
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:04 |
|
Give it a split rear window.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:05 |
|
Yea no problem! Good luck.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:05 |
|
I have an irrational attachment to this concept.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:06 |
|
S’all good! By the way, here’s some Italian inspiration. Thomassima II and III, custom-bodied Ferraris.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:07 |

With a budget.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:08 |

Making it wide is part of the plan.

I wanna see those quad exhausts center mounted, like on a Zonda.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:14 |

Make it FRC

![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:15 |

Like a Camaro?
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:16 |
|
I’ll submit it tomorrow.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:17 |
|
I like that C-pillar.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:19 |
|
Shooting brake is the answer IMO.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:21 |
|
Tell that jackwagon he owes me money.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:45 |
|
Is this a one-off, or going for proper tooling?
![]() 02/10/2016 at 16:49 |
|
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:00 |
|
Now if you could design me a Lexus LC-F shooting brake or a Lexus LS wagon that would be key.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:28 |
|
Ooo the LC-F should be on the inspiration board either way.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:29 |

If you use it, I demand that you double my cut of your commission. And buy me a coffee.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:29 |

One off with MAYBE a few others made. And I quote “I’ve got plenty of rich friends that might buy one”.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:32 |
|
HAHA I get no commission. Im salary.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:34 |

It is the most extreme styled ‘veto there is. Its not irrational.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:34 |
|
Er, structure changes though.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:34 |
|
This is it people, wrap it up. We’re done here.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:34 |
|
Thats a good idea.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:35 |
|
Forgot about that. Noted.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:36 |
|
Eh, Just filling away the butresses.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:37 |

Not sure if anything corvette esque is really desired. But if there is, hints of split window is the way to go.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:43 |
|
Hope this one goes better than mine did!

![]() 02/10/2016 at 17:53 |

any way to take the back end and go more boattail than robot would be nice and comliment the more natural lines in your example. my top pic is some weird thing i did ages ago, but the idea is to let the greenhouse lines continue down instead of creating a flat back deck at the center. effectively in the second pic where it says callaway would become emty space with a spoiler or aero bridging the sides....this would allow the rear haunches to become a lot more aggresively sculpted looking too.
imagine in this pic if the area where between and including the inboard rear lights become an extension of the cabin space instead of a flat area....it start to look very sleek...like a cotroen gt but far less exaggerated..
![]() 02/10/2016 at 18:52 |
|
Tightwad. You’ll probably try and hustle me out of the coffee, too.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 18:59 |
|
Can you put some FJ40 touch in there secretly just for me to giggle at?
![]() 02/10/2016 at 19:12 |
|
Exactly the kind of response I was expecting. My idea works!
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:07 |
|
No promises.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:09 |
|
Every vehicle should be based off of an FJ. IMO.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:10 |
|
Or maybe as exaggerated as the Citroen GT!!
Not bad thoughts though.
![]() 02/10/2016 at 22:12 |
|
Just make sure it has hips like the LC500/Every Aston Martin ever made. Will you be able to show us the end result?
![]() 02/11/2016 at 09:18 |
|
Yea, eventually. If/when there is a end result. But damn the LC500 is pretty.
